Roll forging is a process where round or flat bar stock is reduced in thickness and increased in length. Roll forging is performed using two cylindrical or semi-cylindrical rolls, each containing one or more shaped grooves. A heated bar is inserted into the rolls and when it hits a stop the rolls rotate and the bar is progressively shaped as it is rolled through the machine. The piece is then transferred to the next set of grooves or turned around and reinserted into the same grooves. This continues until the desired shape and size is achieved. The non-separable inner ring and roller assembly is called the cone, and the outer ring is called the cup. Internal clearance is established during mounting by the axial position of the cone relative to the cup.

He seemed to think that bushings were the best option on bikes as you dont get a point load which in hindsight is what full sussers used to use and bearings kits were an "upgrade". Interestingly I don't remember ever having a problem with bushings.

Y-bearings in the YSA 2-2FK series have an inner ring extended on both sides and a tapered bore (taper 1:12) enabling them to be mounted on standard adapter sleeves in the H 23 series. The appropriate adapter sleeve is not part of the bearing and must be ordered separately. Y-bearings of this type are delivered exclusively with the rugged standard "Superagriseal" fitted with additional plain sheet steel flingers. The outer ring has two lubrication holes as standard. Mounting onto an adapter sleeve enables the bearings to operate at higher speeds, run more smoothly in applications where the direction of rotation is constant or alternating. The SKF range, which comprises bearings with bore diameter from 25 to 65 mm, fits adapter sleeves in the H 23 series for metric shafts ranging from 20 to 60 mm. These bearings can also be used on adapter sleeves in the HA 23, HE 23 and HS 23 series for inch shafts ranging from 3/4 to 2 3/8 inch diameter.

Spherical roller bearings are inherently self-aligning and very robust. The two rows of rollers make the bearings able to carry heavy loads. Invented by SKF and refined over the years, the present SKF range of spherical roller bearings includes a wide range of sizes of several ISO Dimension Series and also includes special designs, for example, for vibrating screens and similar applications. More recently a range of sealed spherical roller bearings has been added to the assortment. Split spherical roller bearings are usually based on the standard bearings but can be customized as required. Spherical roller bearings have two rows of rollers with a common sphered raceway in the outer ring and two inner ring raceways inclined at an angle to the bearing axis (fig). This gives them an attractive combination of design features making them irreplaceable in many demanding applications. They are self-aligning and consequently insensitive to misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing and to shaft deflection or bending. SKF spherical roller bearings are leading in design and can, in addition to high radial loads, accommodate high axial loads acting in both directions. The standard range of SKF spherical roller bearings comprises: open bearings, sealed bearings, bearings for vibratory applications. In addition to the standard range, SKF offers a wide range of special spherical roller bearings adapted for specific applications.
